COLLECTORS
The objective of our 'collectors' files is to determine locations at which
JMW Turner's 'The rising squall, hot wells, from St. Vincent's rock,
Bristol', exhibited RA 1793, might have been abandoned. They also seek to
determine missing periods from the provenances of associated works in
connection with their identities and present whereabouts.

1880; Around this time we are unable to locate Alfred Weston Hatchall Hornsby (b. 1845?) or to determine whether he was living at Wotton House, Aylesbury. Alfred is a Lt-Col;
On some genealogy sites his father is said to be Maj. J R Hornsby, RA

possibly John Romaine Hornsby who married Mary Elizabeth Rosina
(McKenzie) Hornsby. However this information is unreliable and was not
verified.
Another but unlikely reference was found in Kelly's Landed 1880 p350, & in 1888, Hornsby Jas JP Lincolnshire Castlegate House Grantham, & in 1888, Stapleford Park
1887 Alfred Weston (Hatchell) Hornsby, age 42 married Ella K
Drake, age 27, in September 1887.
He became known as Lt.-Col. Alfred Weston Hatchall Hornsby-Drake.
She became Mrs. Ella Katherine Hornsby-Drake.
We have no address for them at this time. However, their exact
whereabouts before 1890, when Ella K inherited Drake's collection, has no
impact on this enquiry.

1930 Ella Katherine died. Lt.-Col. Alfred Weston Hatchall Hornsby-Drake survived her and may have inherited from her. His address at this time was the family home at:
