Extraction:
Much of the information has been gathered from machine read sources (OCR) and it has been found that OCR is riddled with errors. Numerals are particularly poorly read and alphabetical characters are frequently misread in so many different ways it is impossible to search with total reliability (even simple mistakes eg: 'E' read as 'B' can turn 'TURNER' into 'TURNBER' and another common misread can make it 'TURN8R' - and there are much worse).

References to lists and tables from literary sources:
An @ sign preceding means that an entry was derived from that document
TURNER@GRAVES is from the Sales of Turner list & from an original Algernon Graves 'Art Sales' entry
@GRAVES simply means looked up in Algernon Graves 'Art Sales'
ARTIST_NAME without @ sign generally means looked up in Algernon Graves 'Art Sales'
@REDFORD refers to Redford Art Sales (these do not go beyond 1888)
