1902 Chignall does not add anything new but it is part of the literary record and is included for that reason. His source for the first oil is not entirely clear but he favours 'Moonlight' and quotes the full title almost the same as the RA Catalogue:

• "... his first exhibited landscape in oil, 'Moonlight: a Study at Millbank',"
