1896 Tennant - This is a catalogue of pictures in the collection of Sir Charles Tennant. Published in 1896 when both Redgrave books had been published but before CF Bell published his erroneous interpretation. If Redgrave was the source of the Tennant commentary then the compiler clearly considered the information in the correct order.

The catalogue contains a short biography of Turner in which is found:

• "His first oil picture, 'The Rising Squall' was exhibited in 1793"
