WILLIAM LEAF (1791-1874)

William Leaf is of interest in connection with the two 1793 watercolours of 'Gate of St. Augustine's Monastery, Canterbury' (exh. 1793) and 'Old Gate Of Canterbury'.References suggest that Leaf was in possession of 'Old Gate of Canterbury' in 1862 [London International Exhibition 1862 'Canterbury Gate', No. 992 page 56]

However, Leaf's 'Old Gate of Canterbury' is not either of the Gates of St' Augustine's Monastery referred to in the links above. (note added 4th March 2023)

His executor sale was Christie 1875-05-06 (3 days) [asco 35642]
