TABLEY HOUSE 1825

This collection is of interest because there are several , and a seashore scene by W Collins which may help to identify the seller in Christie's 27th April 1864 sale

References to the sale of July 7th, 1827 shown in manuscript include Turners in our Turner Sales and Exhibition List.

Pictures by other artists in the 27th April 1864 sale in the section headed 'Property of a Gentleman' included:

• Lot 97; George Romney; 'The Lady Hamilton'; Very beautiful; buyer: Anderdon £16/16.
  If Lot 97 can be identified it might reveal a connection with previous owners and help to identify the 'Gentleman' seller of 27th April 1864. In a later sale by Anderdon the title was expanded to include 'as Joan of Arc'. Anderdon may have owned two (or more) Lady Hamilton Romneys but there is no picture here matching the Joan of Arc description.
