1. Margaret Tucker of Stanhope Street Bath, Spinster, died 1822, Her Will and Probate

Introduction

This is not Margaret Martha Whiteman Tucker, daughter of Rev. James Douglas and Margaret Douglas (neé Oldershaw). However, Margaret Martha Whiteman Tucker did live at what was possibly the same address with Dame Martha Glode (Lady Glode). Lady Glode was Margaret Martha Whiteman Tucker's aunt; her mother's twin sister.

Margaret Tucker of Stanhope Street Bath, Spinster, died 1822 was possibly a sister of Margaret Martha Whiteman Tucker's husband, Mortimer (or Edward Mortimer Tucker - as shown in Dame Martha Glode's will)

The First Line of her Will

The first line of the will reads, "This is the last Will and Testament of Margaret Tucker now resident in Stanhope Street Bath spinster". As she describes herself as a 'spinster' this clearly distinguishes her from Margaret Martha Whiteman Tucker who was a widow.

It will be seen that the will was written in March 1821.

The name 'Tucker' is clear at the bottom of page 2 where inserted as the signature. Elsewhere it is poorly written and could be misinterpreted as 'Turker'

The date of writing of the will, bottom of page 2, is 7th March 1821, written first as 1822 but with the final 'two' crossed through and 'one' inserted.

Date of probate: clearly, and consistent with adjacent entries, 26th March 1822.
