Charles Moreton Michael WHITEMAN (Son of John WHITEMAN)

Baptised 11th July 1765 at St. Mary de Castro, Leicester

Several generations of a Wightman family at Leicester have been identified at St. Mary de Castro. However, no common ancester has been found to link this Wightman group with the Wellingborough Wightman family. [see: Wightman Family Tree]

This record is conspicuous due to the spelling 'WHITEMAN' and it records two people: John Whiteman (born say, around 1745) and his son Charles Moreton Michael Whiteman (1765-????). This is the same spelling as Margaret Martha Whiteman (Douglas) (born between 1773 and 1782) [see: Margaret Martha Whiteman Douglas - baptism]

No mother's name is shown on this entry. Possible death in childbirth. There are no Whiteman female burials around july 1765. Similarly no Moreton females in this area.

One of Rev. James Douglas's sons was named James Edward Moreton Douglas so there may be a common ancester with the name 'Moreton'.
