This auction is examined as a possible source of works in the Clow and R.B. Preston collections with special reference to 1852-04-22 Winstanley, Liverpool; Clow; lot 35; J.M.W. Turner; 'The Gothic Arch' and 1891-05-15 Christie; Mrs. E L Berthon; lot 121; J.M.W. Turner; 'St. Augustine's Gate'. Although Turner appears twice in the drawings none of the titles show any resemblance to those two lots.
