The 1891 Drake sale catalogue: Possible reasons for the omission of 'The Hotwells, Bristol - Storm coming on':
1. Drake took posession but disposed of it at an earlier sale between 1864 and 1891.
The best starting information is that he took posession from Reynolds: definitely 'The Country Waggon, Snowden, Early Morning' and in this scenario, albeit speculative, the St. Vincent's Rock Oil was aquired as 'an early Turner', 'The Hotwells, Bristol - Storm coming on', the title in The Art Journal 1864.
Disposal by auctions anywhere, private sales, gift.
