TURNER'S SKETCHES AND DRAWINGS
These extracts relate to 'Battle of the Nile...'. Finberg, writing in 1910 paid little attention to it. He reported that he had not seen the picture but that it was 'large'.

In the last paragraph of page 42 Finberg refers to
RA exhibited
'sea' themes, describing 1796 'Fishermen At Sea' as a drawing, including
two of the four 1799 oils, 'Battle of the Nile' and 'Fishermen Becalmed',
in his text.
Then at the bottom of page 43 he describes 'Battle of the Nile' as:
'...a large 'Battle of the Nile' (1799).'
